Amazon announced five new Alexa+ devices on October 28, 2026. The Echo Show 16 is a redesigned 16-inch smart display priced from $499.99, available for preorder now and shipping later this year. Alongside it are a new Echo Dot ($99.99), an Echo Studio with Home Camera ($249.99), a bedside Echo Time clock ($199.99) and the Alexa Photo Frame. The Dot, Echo Time and the camera-equipped Studio are on sale now in the US.

Amazon's announcement lists US dollar prices only. It doesn't mention UK, German, Japanese or other launch dates yet. Amazon says Alexa+ is included with Prime, and several features on these devices require Alexa+.
What is the new Echo Show 16?
The Echo Show 16 is the main new device. It's a wall- or stand-mounted family screen that also works as a Fire TV. Amazon says it:
- Has a 16-inch full HD display in an anodized aluminum frame that is nearly 40% thinner than the previous model, with 10% more viewing area than the Echo Show 15.
- Offers an optional Nanomatte anti-glare screen with "more than 90% less glare and 50% less sparkle" ($569.99).
- Uses a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with auto-framing for video calls and, for the first time on an Echo Show, night vision. You can view it remotely through Live View in the Alexa app.
- Extends Visual ID (recognizing who is in front of it) from 8 feet to up to 17 feet.
- Packs eight micro woofers and two tweeters, plus "20% more computing power".
- Adds Screen Styles (Engadget lists family organizer, photo frame, Fire TV and smart home hub modes) and the Alexa Home Map, a 3D view of your home and its connected devices.
- Includes a physical button that turns off the mics and camera.
Optional stands cost $69.99, or $124.99 for a swivel-and-tilt version. Amazon also said Echo Show is its fastest-growing Echo line, up more than 25% year over year.

Is the new Echo Dot worth $99.99?
The 2026 Echo Dot costs more than budget smart speakers because Amazon has built more into it. Per Amazon:
- AZ3 custom chip with an AI accelerator for on-device processing.
- A fourth microphone for better pickup across a room, and Voice ID to recognize who is speaking.
- 50% more bass than the last generation.
- A built-in smart home hub for Zigbee, Matter and Thread.
- A built-in eero Wi-Fi extender that Amazon says covers up to 1,000 sq ft.
- Omnisense sensing for room temperature and presence.
- Colors: Graphite, Glacier White, Agave Green and Coral Pink. Optional stand: $39.99.
The Amazon Kids Echo Dot starts at $109.99 in Octopus and Penguin designs and includes a year of Amazon Kids+.
Who it's for: households that want one small device to act as speaker, Matter/Zigbee hub and Wi-Fi extender. If you only want a timer and weather speaker, a discounted older Dot will do the job for less.
Does the Echo Studio have a camera now?
The new Echo Studio with Home Camera does. The $219.99 Echo Studio without a camera stays on sale. Amazon's announcement doesn't give the camera's resolution. With the camera you can:
- Check on a room remotely with Live View in the Alexa app.
- Let Alexa+ use visual context. Amazon's examples are explaining a board game's rules from its box, or recognizing a cereal box so you can reorder it.
- Pair with a compatible Fire TV for video calls on the big screen. Amazon says this is "coming soon".
On privacy, Amazon says a dedicated button disables the mics and cameras, and an LED lights up whenever the device streams images or video to the cloud. Engadget reports Amazon says the camera doesn't record footage. Amazon's own article doesn't explicitly say whether footage is stored, so if that matters to you, check the device's privacy settings after setup.
What is Amazon Echo Time?
Echo Time is a camera-free bedside smart clock ($199.99). Amazon says it has a customizable display with hundreds of clock faces. Its Omnisense sleep sensing can wake you 10 to 60 minutes before your alarm during lighter sleep, while the display brightens to simulate a sunrise, and you don't need a wearable. Amazon says it has earned the National Sleep Foundation's SleepMark. Engadget adds that the circular screen is 2.3 inches and can dim below 0.3 nits, and that sleep detection uses an ultrasonic transducer. The Kids version starts at $209.99 with a year of Kids+ and Sleep Studio content.
What is the Alexa Photo Frame?
Amazon calls it the first photo frame with Alexa built in. It's a 10-inch anti-glare touchscreen that syncs with Amazon Photos. Alexa picks the photos to show and filters out screenshots and clutter, and you can ask for photos of a specific person, pet or trip. Amazon's announcement doesn't list the price or ship date. Engadget reports it starts at $200 with a black frame and $229 in real birch or walnut. Engadget notes that Amazon Photos includes unlimited photo storage for Prime members.

The Echo Show 16 is the real news. At $499.99 it costs as much as a tablet, and Amazon is pitching it as a family command center rather than a gadget. Its 17-foot recognition, night vision and Home Map make most sense in a busy kitchen. For a smaller space, the more interesting device is the $99.99 Echo Dot: building a Matter/Thread hub and an eero extender into a speaker this size could replace two other boxes. We're less sure about the camera trend. A camera on a living-room speaker is useful, but people who don't want one should note that Amazon is keeping the camera-free Studio on sale. Wait for independent reviews before preordering the Show 16. The $100 preorder discount is tempting, but it's a lot of money for a device nobody outside Amazon has lived with yet.
