Rings of Power Season 3 Release Schedule: Dates, Time, Cast and How to Watch
Rings of Power Season 3 starts Nov 11, 2026 on Prime Video with 4 episodes; finale Nov 25. Full schedule, release time, cast, Balrog and Season 4.

The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video, with four episodes on day one. Episodes 5 and 6 follow on November 18, and the last two episodes land on November 25 — so the whole eight-episode season is out in just over two weeks. If you already have Amazon Prime (or a standalone Prime Video plan), you don't pay anything extra to watch it.
That's the short version. Below is the full release calendar, what we actually know about the release time, the new cast, where the story picks up, and what critics and fans are saying so far — with every claim sourced.
When does The Rings of Power Season 3 come out?
Amazon's own news page for the show states that Season 3 "will premiere November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories." The premiere date was first confirmed on May 11, 2026, during Amazon's annual Upfront presentation in New York, according to coverage of the event by TheOneRing.net and Variety India. Amazon updated its page on October 21, 2026, with the full Season 3 trailer.
Full Season 3 episode release schedule
| Release date (2026) | Day | Episodes | Running total |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 11 | Wednesday | Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4 | 4 of 8 |
| November 18 | Wednesday | Episodes 5, 6 | 6 of 8 |
| November 25 | Wednesday | Episodes 7, 8 (finale) | 8 of 8 |
Amazon's page lists the November 11, November 18 and November 25 drops. It does not state a season total in words, but the schedule adds up to eight episodes, and Wikipedia's season page and multiple outlets (Nerdist, Bleeding Cool) list eight. Episode titles had not been published at the time of writing.
What time does Rings of Power Season 3 release?
Amazon has not printed an exact release hour on its news page, and none of the entertainment outlets we checked (Nerdist, Bleeding Cool) published one either. Wikipedia's season page says episodes release worldwide at the same time as the US.
What that means in practice:
- Open the Prime Video app or the show's page on the evening of November 10 (US time) and check whether a countdown or "Coming Wednesday" label shows a time for your region.
- Because the release is simultaneous worldwide, viewers in Europe, Asia and Australia will see the episodes on a different local clock time than US viewers — possibly already on Wednesday morning or afternoon.
- Turn on the "Watchlist" or notification option in the app so it tells you when Episode 1 is live.
We will not guess an hour here, because Amazon hasn't confirmed one. If Amazon publishes a time before November 11, we'll add it to this article.
How is this release schedule different from Seasons 1 and 2?
This is a real change, and it's the main thing fans are discussing.
| Season | Premiere | Episodes at premiere | How the rest arrived | Finale |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Season 2 | August 29, 2024 | 3 | Weekly, one episode at a time | October 3, 2024 |
| Season 3 | November 11, 2026 | 4 | Two batches of two, one week apart | November 25, 2026 |
Season 2 data per Wikipedia's season 2 page; Season 3 per Amazon.
Season 2 took about five weeks to finish. Season 3 finishes in 15 days. That's much closer to a binge release, and it means the finale lands the day before US Thanksgiving (November 26, 2026).
How to watch The Rings of Power Season 3
You need access to Prime Video. There are two common routes:
- Amazon Prime membership — Prime Video is included. Amazon's own news pages list US Prime at $14.99 a month or $139 a year, with discounted options for young adults and qualifying government-assistance recipients, plus a 30-day free trial for eligible new members. Prices differ in other countries; check your local Amazon site.
- Prime Video standalone — in markets where Amazon sells Prime Video on its own, that plan also includes Amazon Originals like The Rings of Power.
Then:
- Open the Prime Video app (smart TV, Fire TV, Roku, game console, phone, tablet) or primevideo.com.
- Search "The Rings of Power" and add it to your Watchlist.
- On November 11, select Season 3 from the season drop-down.
About ads: in many countries Prime Video now includes limited ads by default, with an optional paid ad-free add-on. That's a general Prime Video setting, not something specific to this show — check your local Prime Video account settings for what applies to you.
Catching up first: Amazon says all 16 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming now on Prime Video. At roughly an hour each, a full rewatch is a big weekend — so if you're short on time, a recap of Season 2's ending is the minimum.
Also arriving in November: our complete list of what's new on Prime Video in November 2026 covers The Greatest, Madden, Blade Runner 2099 and the rest of the month. And if you're planning a Bond marathon before Middle-earth returns, see our James Bond movies in order guide.
What is Rings of Power Season 3 about?
According to Amazon, Season 3 is set five years after the fall of Eregion, at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron. Amazon's description: "Sauron's armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path." The season builds toward Sauron's creation of the One Ring, and Wikipedia's season page says it also covers the transformation of the Nazgûl.
The showrunners and executive producers are J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Wikipedia lists the directors as Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz. Filming ran from May to late October 2025, with locations including Shepperton Studios in Surrey, Portland Bill in Dorset, and Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland (per Wikipedia).
Who is in The Rings of Power Season 3 cast?
Returning, as confirmed on Amazon's page: Charlie Vickers (Sauron), Morfydd Clark (Galadriel) and Robert Aramayo (Elrond), among others. Amazon also published a new still of Daniel Weyman, captioned as Gandalf. Wikipedia's returning list also includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Charles Edwards, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Lloyd Owen and Ciarán Hinds.
New for Season 3, per Amazon:
| Actor | Role | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Jamie Campbell Bower | Celeborn | Galadriel's long-lost husband |
| Zubin Varla | Khamûl | |
| Eddie Marsan | Thrain | |
| Andrew Richardson | Anárion | |
| Adam Young | Marnûkh | |
| Simon Pegg | The Balrog (voice) | Wikipedia notes the Balrog speaks for the first time this season |
Yes — "rings of power season 3 balrog" is one of the top Google searches about this show right now, and that's why: the Balrog has a voice actor.
Is there going to be a Rings of Power Season 4?
Yes. Variety India reported on May 12, 2026, that Prime Video formally renewed the series for a fourth season during the same Upfront event where the Season 3 date was confirmed, quoting Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon's Season 3 page doesn't mention Season 4, and no Season 4 date has been announced.
What are critics and fans saying about Season 3?
Critics (first reactions, not full reviews). /Film rounded up early social reactions on October 28, 2026. A few, as quoted there:
- Rotem Rusak (Nerdist): "Eps 1 & 2 are AMAZING."
- Fay Watson (Total Film): "Charlie Vickers steals the show as Sauron, almost at the height of his powers, relishing in every villainous smirk."
- Chris Killian (ComicBook): "Charlie Vickers as Sauron is a highlight, he just oozes evil."
/Film itself notes these first reactions come mostly from press who attended junkets, so treat them with some caution until full reviews land.
Fans on Reddit. Swiss outlet blue News quoted Reddit users reacting to the trailer on October 24, 2026: one wrote "This season looks like the show I'd imagined from the very beginning," and another called it "an amazing trailer." The article didn't link the specific threads, so we can't point you to them directly. The same piece notes the show has had a mixed reception from long-time Lord of the Rings fans since Season 1.
The schedule debate. Not everyone loves the batch release. In an August 1 opinion piece, Ready Steady Cut's Daniel Hart argued the hybrid schedule dilutes the buzz around a flagship show and that Prime Video should pick either a full binge drop or a weekly cadence. ComicBook.com's Amanda Mullen called the batch model a questionable choice but argued it may have a silver lining: less reliance on the week-to-week mystery-box twists that hurt the first two seasons. Questions we keep seeing from readers boil down to: Why not drop all eight at once? Will spoilers be everywhere by November 12? Is four episodes enough to judge the season?
Editor's take
The three-drop schedule is the smartest thing Prime Video has done with this show. Season 2's one-a-week rollout stretched a slow-burn story across five weeks, and a lot of casual viewers drifted off. Four episodes up front gives the season room to build before anyone decides to quit, and finishing the night before US Thanksgiving gives the finale a holiday-weekend audience.
The trade-off is spoilers: with half the season out on day one, social feeds will move fast. If you care, block a few hours on November 11 or mute keywords.
And a practical note: since everything is out by November 25, anyone who was on the fence about a Prime trial can plan it to cover the full season with time to spare — just remember to cancel if you don't want to keep paying, and check what's happening with Amazon's Black Friday 2026 dates if you're timing a trial around holiday shopping anyway.
