Amazon CloudWatch Omni expansion reaches eight new AWS Regions

The Amazon CloudWatch Omni expansion is now underway as the AI-powered observability tool becomes available in eight additional AWS Regions. This update allows teams to observe and troubleshoot applications and agents in one place across multiple accounts and cloud providers.

What's new

  • CloudWatch Omni is now available in Canada (Central), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt, London), and South America (São Paulo).
  • The tool combines the scale and reliability of CloudWatch with the interoperability of OpenTelemetry.
  • It features automatic service discovery, dependency mapping, and the surfacing of golden metrics.
  • Users can interact with telemetry through chat, point-and-click, or via the Agent Toolkit for AWS.

Why it matters

For developers and DevOps engineers, this expansion provides localized observability capabilities in key global markets. The tool's ability to unify telemetry from AWS, Azure, and GCP into a single space simplifies troubleshooting in complex multi-cloud environments. Builders can use the Agent Toolkit to find signals and build dynamic views, leveraging the AWS DevOps Agent to reach a root cause quickly.

Deeper dive

CloudWatch Omni offers a standalone web experience supported by single sign-on (SSO), as well as local IDE extensions. For agent developers, the platform includes a dedicated observability experience with an evaluation-driven workflow for several frameworks, including:

  • LangGraph
  • CrewAI
  • OpenAI Agents SDK
  • Vercel AI SDK
  • Strands

Additionally, developers can install a free CloudWatch Omni extension for use in VS Code, Cursor, and Kiro.

Availability

CloudWatch Omni is available in the following regions:

  • New Regions: Canada (Central), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt, London), and South America (São Paulo).
  • Existing Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland).
